Khelo India Scheme
Khelo India: National Programme for Development of Sports, branded as Khelo India, aims at improving India’s sports culture at the grass-root level through organized talent identification, structured sporting competitions and infrastructure development. It is a Government of India programme launched in 2017-18 under the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Minister’s Vijay Goel and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
Khelo India has given accreditation to different discipline sports academies across various states, among which Lakshya Shooting Club, Karnala Sports Academy, Panvel branch is accredited (non-residential) for shooting sport in Mumbai Region.
On an average basis 10 to 15 Khelo India Athletes train at Lakshya Shooting Club every year. Under the scheme they are provided yearly financial aid to the tune of INR 500,000, which includes competition expenses, kitting and equipment, pellets, medical insurance and education.
